Since January 2016 he has been part of the Richmond Kickers squad with games in the United Soccer League , the third soccer league in the USA and Canada .

Club career

Career start

Sunny Jane, who has four brothers with Jeff, James, Lepe and Mark, was born on July 17, 1991 as a member of the Basotho , a hill tribe in southern Africa, and the son of Teboho and Majane Jane in Lesotho. At the age of four, after seeing one of his brothers playing in the Lesotho national team , he too began his career as a footballer. At the age of 13, he came to the United States without his parents , where Marc and Pam Maguire from Louisville , Kentucky , took legal guardianship. As a 13-year-old he made an appearance for the Lesotho U-18 national team, which also attracted the attention of Thabane Sutu , a former goalkeeper and captain of the Lesotho national team, who guided him to and from the United States in the first place Youth club United 1996 FC recorded.

After he died as a half-orphan, his father came to North America after he became ill from mining work, he attended Trinity High School in the metropolitan Louisville city of St. Matthews , where he continued as a football player Appearance occurred. At the same time, he continued under the native Bosnian Braco Jusufović at United 1996 FC and was with the high school team two-time state champion . An individual success for Jane was the election to an All-State School Player and the All-Star Selection . He was also a participant in the Generation Adidas ESP Showcase and was voted the tenth most promising recruit in the USA by TopDrawerSoccer.com . Compatriot Lepe Seetane came to the United States through the aforementioned Thabane Sutu , who initially also played for United 1996 FC and Trinity High School , as well as college soccer and even lived with the same foster family.

College Soccer at UMCP

His college career would eventually take him to the University of Maryland, College Park , where he appeared on the Maryland Terrapins men's soccer team . In his first year of play in 2010, Jane initially came into the game as a joker from the bench and was able to make 19 championship appearances by the end of the season. In the end he came up with a scorer rating of seven points consisting of three hits from twelve shots on goal. With the team he was able to prevail in the eight games of the Atlantic Coast Men's Soccer 2010 against the competition and after winning this championship in the subsequent NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship 2010 . There he lost with the team, after victories over the Penn Quakers in the second round and the Penn State Nittany Lions in the semifinals, in the final game against the Michigan State Spartans just in extra time.

In the 2011 game year, the Lesother was able to prove himself as one of the most dynamic midfielders in college soccer this season, leading the team's internal template ranking with eight assists. Throughout the season he was used in all championship games except for one game and when he finished the Atlantic Coast Men's Soccer 2011 with the team in second place behind the North Carolina Tar Heels , he was even placed in the All-ACC second Elected team . In the subsequent NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship 2011, the Terrapins were eliminated from the current competition in the third round of Regional 2 and were unable to match the previous year's performance. Sunny Jane , who was initially trained as a midfielder and 10-man , only managed one goal over the entire year . He was actually supposed to appear as a player for the River City Rovers in their first season in the Premier Development League during their free time at college , but this agreement did not come about for unexplained reasons.

Subsequently, Jane also appeared as a winger , including in the 2012 game year, when he was used in all 24 championship games, 21 of which he was on the field from the start. He ended the season with two goals and four assists from 24 shots on goal and helped the team to another championship title in the Atlantic Coast Men's Soccer 2012 . Much more successful was the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship , in which the Terrapins advanced to the National Semifinals of the College Cup, but were defeated by Georgetown on penalties and barely made it into the final.

In his senior year, Sunny Jane was able to improve his playing record again, where he appeared in 26 league games, scored two goals and prepared six for his teammates. In the Atlantic Coast Men's Soccer 2013 , the Maryland Terrapins were again masters of the ACC under long-term coach Sasho Cirovski and reached the final of the College Cup in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship 2013 mainly because of the offensive Patrick Mullins . This lost the team just 1: 2 against Notre Dame Fighting Irish , but could call themselves NCAA runner-up. After graduating from UMCP, the two-time letterman took part in the MLS Combine to convince the representatives of the major league soccer franchises and to get into the top North American soccer league via the MLS SuperDraft 2014 . However, this endeavor failed because the Lesother was not considered for the SuperDraft.

Professional in the US third division

After he was not accepted by any MLS club, which was mainly due to the lack of individual successes during his college career, the Wilmington Hammerheads franchise with play in the third-rate USL Pro announced the commitment of the Lesotho offensive player on February 24, 2014. There, however, he did not take part in the first two league games in 2014 , as Jane's later national team membership still had to be clarified, as the latter, in the event of receiving US citizenship, was hoping to be called up to his new home. He then made his professional debut on April 26, 2014 in a 2-0 loss to the Charlotte Eagles , when he came on the lawn in the 60th minute of the game. One month later, he was in a preseason game of the US U-20 national team to the World Cup qualifying with a hat-trick to convince the scoring in a training game of the Hammerheads against the US youth team. His first professional league goal came on 23 August 2014 in a 2-1 win over Orange County Blues FC , before scoring a brace against LA Galaxy II a day later . The 2014 game year he finished with the team in seventh place and was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the subsequent play-offs against eventual champions Sacramento Republic . He himself made 17 league appearances over the course of the season, in which he scored five goals and prepared three more for his comrades. He was also used in the aforementioned play-off game against the Sacramento franchise .

After the end of the 2014 game year, the club announced on November 21, 2014 that Jane and his teammate Paul Nicholson would continue to play their second year under the existing two-year contract with the Hammerheads. In the 2015 game year , the sporting successes largely failed to materialize, with the team having only three wins in 28 league games and accordingly taking twelfth and last place in the final classification of the Eastern Conference . Sunny Jane was used in 24 of these games by Carson Porter , who took over from long-time coach David Irving in August of the previous year , and scored two goals, but no assists. Following this disappointing season, Jane announced his move to league rivals Richmond Kickers in January 2016 .

National team career

Jane gained his first international experience in the U-15 and U-16 teams in his home country Lesotho. As a 13-year-old, he made his first appearances in the Lesotho U-18 national team and, when he was already playing in the United States, he also played for the U-20 national team in his home country . Having initially, in case of obtaining the American nationality, was hoping for a convocation of his new home and therefore was in February 2014 to clarify in his home country, he nevertheless decided in May and June of the same year for the Lesotho national football team , for which he made his debut on June 1, 2014 in a 2-0 win over Liberia in qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations. He was used under Mochini Matete from the start and replaced by Phafa Tsosane in the 59th minute of the game . The win helped Lesotho take part in the next qualifying round for the first time; so far it never got over the first round. In this, Jane was also used in the 1-0 first leg win against Kenya and after a 0-0 draw in the second leg even made it into the subsequent group stage, in which the team then, without Sunny Jane's participation, with two draws and four defeats Eliminated from six games as the last in Group C. After he had not been considered for around ten months, Matete brought him into the 21-man squad for the COSAFA Cup 2015 in May 2015 . He was used in Lesotho's opening game against Madagascar , as well as in the third and final game against Tanzania , when he was eliminated from the current tournament as third in Group B.
