Suzuki fronts
The Suzuki Fronte is a small car from Suzuki . It was the notchback version of the Suzuki Suzulight TL Van and was introduced as the Suzuki Suzulight Fronte in March 1962 . In the first year 2,565 cars were built. A year later, a new engine with lower fuel consumption was released. The Suzuki Fronte had a transverse two - cylinder two-stroke engine that drove the front wheels. In October 1965, a further improved engine was introduced, with which the oil consumption was reduced. A larger version, the Suzuki Fronte 800 , was also introduced.
- In 1967 the Suzuki Fronte 360 followed as a successor, with a rear engine and rear-wheel drive.
- In 1969 the Kombi Fronte Van with front engine and rear wheel drive appeared as a replacement for the Suzuki Suzulight. He already anticipated design elements of the Fronte 360 successor Suzuki Fronte 71.
- The Sting Ray ( stingray ) Fronte 71 started in 1970 and was more of a sedan with a hinted hatchback .
- Based on the Fronte 71, the Fronte Coupé was introduced in September 1971 , designed by Giugiaro and with a more powerful engine. This was replaced in 1976 by the Suzuki Cervo .
- In July 1973 the new model Fronte LC20 came out as the successor to the Sting Ray Fronte .
- These were replaced in May 1976 by the Fronte 7-S with 443 cm³ displacement.
- In May 1979 the Suzuki Alto replaced the series, but was marketed on the home market as Fronte until 1989, continuously with the series designation like the Alto (Alto SS30 / SS40 and Fronte SS30 / SS40).
