Svetlana Anatoljewna Malachowa-Schischkina ( Russian Светлана Анатольевна Малахова-Шишкина ; born March 27, 1977 in Serebryansk ) is a former Kazakh cross-country skier .

Career

Malachowa-Schischkina started in Davos for the first time in the cross-country skiing world cup in December 1995 and finished in 73rd place over 5 km freestyle. At the 1996 Winter Asian Games in Harbin , she won 11th place over 10 km freestyle and eighth place over 5 km classic. She got her first World Cup points at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein with 16th place over 15 km freestyle. At the 1999 Asian Winter Games in Gangwon , she won the silver medal over 5 km classic and the gold medal over 10 km freestyle and with the relay. In January 2003 she won the bronze medal with the relay and the gold medal over 5 km classic at the Winter Universiade in Tarvisio .

At the 2003 Asian Winter Games in Aomori Prefecture , Malachowa-Shishkina won the silver medal over 10 km freestyle and the gold medal over 5 km classic and relay. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck she achieved the gold medal with the relay and the 5 km freestyle. In the 2005/06 season she came in the points ten times in the World Cup. In Canmore she achieved her first top ten placements in the individual World Cup with eighth place in the 15 km mass start race and fifth place in the 10 km freestyle. At the end of the season, she finished 32nd in the overall World Cup and 21st in the Distance World Cup. These were her best overall World Cup results. The following season she finished 35th in the Tour de Ski 2006/07 . In February 2007 she achieved her only podium finish in the World Cup with third place in the 10 km freestyle in Changchun . She came in 43rd place in the overall World Cup and 21st place in the Distance World Cup.

At the Winter Asian Games 2007 in Changchun , Malachowa-Shishkina won the silver medal over 5 km classic and the gold medal with the relay. She finished the Tour de Ski 2008/09 on 27th and the Tour de Ski 2009/10 on 21st place. At the beginning of her last active season 2010/11, she achieved 33rd place at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo . In February 2011 she won the bronze medal in the 15 km mass start race and the gold medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Almaty . She ran her last World Cup race in March 2011 in Lahti , which she finished in 46th place in the skiathlon .

Malachowa-Shishkina took part in the Winter Olympics in 1998 in Nagano , 2002 in Salt Lake City , 2006 in Torino and 2010 in Vancouver in part. Her best results in Vancouver were tenth place over 10 km freestyle and ninth place with the relay. Her best placings in eight world championships ( 1997 , 1999 , 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2007 , 2009 and 2011 ) were seventh place over 10 km freestyle in February 2005 in Oberstdorf and fourth place with the relay in February 2003 in Fiemme Valley .
