Târgu Secuiesc old spelling Tîrgu Secuiesc [ ˈtɨrɡu ˈsekuiesk ] (outdated Târgul Săcuilor ; Hungarian Kézdivásárhely , German  Szekler Neumarkt ) is a town in the Covasna district in the Transylvania region in Romania .

history

The city was first mentioned in 1407 as "Torjawasara". “Târg” in Romanian and “vásárhely” in Hungarian mean market , proof of the importance of the market town in the Middle Ages.
