The Thuringian Energy Team was a German cycling team based in Erfurt .

history

The team was initially sponsored by the Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei , called TEAG Köstritzer (at least from 1998 to 2005). It mainly consisted of U23 riders and took part in the Rad-Bundesliga . When the former main sponsor surprisingly withdrew at the end of 2005, the Thuringian Energy utility became the new and sole main sponsor. With a new sponsor, the team received the status of a UCI Continental Team at the beginning of 2006 . This status allowed the Erfurt team to take part in races on the UCI Europe Tour .

The team was led by team manager Jörg Werner, who ran it through his company TeamSpirit GmbH.

The Thuringian energy team worked closely with the Bonn team T-Mobile until it was dissolved in 2007.

The team has been based in Erfurt since the Continental license was canceled. As a sports director u. a. the team manager Jörg Werner and the former professional Stephan Schreck are active. Outfitters are Giant , Mavic , LOOK , Campagnolo and Oakley Inc. The team recently employed, apart from Marcel Barth, only U23 drivers and had focused on international and national U23 races.

With the announcement of the withdrawal of team manager Jörg Werner and his operating company TeamSpirit GmbH , the team was dissolved at the end of the 2013 season.
