Main Franconia tour
The Internationale Mainfranken-Tour was a road bike race under different names from 1909 to 2010 , which took place annually with interruptions in the German region of Mainfranken , until 1973 as a one-day race , from 1974 as a stage race . It was already held under the names Rund um Spessart and Rhön (1909–1951), International Ernst Sachs Memorial Race (1952–1984) and International Ernst Sachs Tour (1985–1999). The last two names are based on the industrialist Ernst Sachs , who comes from this region . Since 2000 it has been called the Mainfranken Tour .
Since the UCI Europe Tour was introduced in 2005, it has been part of this racing series and is classified in the UCI category 2.2U. It was also integrated into the U23 classification of the International German Championships that have been held since 2006 .
