Money! Money! is a television film from the crime series Tatort by ARD , ORF and SRF . The film was produced by MDR under the direction of Peter Ristau and first broadcast on August 9, 1998. It is the crime scene episode 392. For the detective chief inspector Bruno Ehrlicher and his colleague Kain it is the 18th case that they investigate in Dresden .
action
In Dresden, the chain game club "Golden Future" is catching members. With advertising events and allegedly countless lucky winners, Nat Dorsey and Angie Hilpert lure fellow players who should entrust them with their money. Fatally, Commissioner Kain fell in love with Angie some time ago and thus has a conflict of interests. He knows that the prosecutor's office wants to take action against this club for fraud, but is not allowed to tell her about it. Shortly after prosecutor Dr. Hera Feder had the latest advertising event ended by means of a raid, Kain found his girlfriend slain in her hotel room. He notifies his colleague Ehrlicher and initially withdraws from the investigation and takes care of Angie's little daughter Bea.
For Commissioner Ehrlicher, an act of jealousy comes into consideration, since, according to Cain, Nat Dorsey was also in love with the attractive young woman. But there are also a lot of cheated club members who have reason enough to be angry with the organizers. Shortly before her death, Angie had an argument with Sandra Wimmer, who was determined to have her contract canceled. While Ehrlicher takes a close look at Nat Dorsey and his club, Kain follows up on the cheated teammates.
Meanwhile, Angie's daughter is kidnapped by Nat Dorsey. He tries to find out from her whether she has seen someone in the hotel room who is considered a perpetrator. After she denies this, he brings her back safely. Unexpectedly, he appears shortly afterwards with Sandra Wimmer at the police station and both confirm an alibi for each other. However, more honest can prove that Sandra Wimmer's statement is not true. He can also locate the murder weapon and secure a well-preserved fingerprint that leads to Sandra Wimmer. He gives her to understand that a perpetrator who presents himself can usually count on a mitigation of the sentence. Sandra Wimmer admits to having killed Angie Hilpert in affect. She was financially at the end and dependent on the money that no one wanted to give her back.
Although Ehrlicher and the prosecution were unable to do anything against Nat Dorsey in the end, he is still taken into extradition custody because he is wanted by the FBI.

criticism
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv comes to the conclusion: “Actually a very exciting idea: American Oberschleimer (convincing: Ulrich Noethen) pulls their savings out of the savings bag for gullible Dresdeners. But in this criminologically poor setting, overloaded with subplots, every good idea by author Fred Breinersdorfer gets stuck. 'Money! Money! ' is well cast and properly played, but dramatically a very erratic, unfocused 'crime scene'. "
The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm rate the film only mediocre and say: "The case about nasty pyramid schemes is laborious and cumbersome to tell." Conclusion: "It is informative, but not very fascinating."
