action
After receiving a public award for her commitment to social rehabilitation of young prisoners, the nationwide well-known foundation chairwoman Vera Schneider is found dead below the balcony of her villa. According to the evidence, she was pushed off the balcony by an intruder.
Commissioner Max Palu and colleague Stefan Deininger are called to the scene and first interview Heinz Schneider, the victim's husband. He has been separated from his wife for five years and lives with the adopted daughter Marion, who has lived with the Schneiders since she was nine. It is possible that he had forcibly got rid of his wife in order to get hold of the stepdaughter's not inconsiderable fortune. He is the boss of the company "Schneider-Werkzeugmaschinen", which is financially quite ailing. In the villa there are also numerous traces of the petty criminal Moshi, one of Vera Schneider's protégés, whom she had tried to rehabilitate for years. But the DNA of Eva-Maria Klein, Vera Schneider's office manager at the foundation, can also be found at the crime scene.
The "prodigal son" Martin has recently appeared unexpectedly again. He suspects his father killed his mother and claims his childhood friend Moshi saw it. When the police want to question him about this, he runs away and throws himself off a bridge, fearing that the police will arrest him, as they usually do. The press sees this suicide as an admission of guilt and the case could be closed. However, Palu also found out that Heinz Schneider had already made use of Marion's fortune in advance, which his wife had noticed. A not unimportant piece of evidence against the widower.
But Palu also researches Eva-Maria Klein and learns from the police psychologist that Klein had a similar fate as Vera Schneider. She too was abandoned by her husband, who had kept the daughter with him. A trauma that could have caused her to want to save her boss from this ordeal. Before he can follow up on this lead, Marion appears at the bureau and confesses to having killed her mother. However, Palu is sure that this is not true and seeks Eva-Maria Klein. He tells her on the head that he thinks she is the murderer and that she wanted to blame Heinz Schneider for the crime so that he would finally be punished for all his atrocities.
After Marion, who had repeatedly declared that she could not live without a tailor, attempts to commit suicide in her cell, Palu secretly looks around Klein's apartment and tries to lure the woman from her reserve. He provokes her, but cannot get the confession she had hoped for. Unexpectedly, she incapacitates him with a blow on the back of the head and goes to Schneider to finally end her plan. There, however, Martin is already venting his anger about what happened on his father. When Klein appears, armed with a pistol, and Heinz Schneider threatens him with the weapon, Martin wants to stop her. A shot goes off and kills the young man. The psychotic woman, Heinz Schneider, blames her for that, but the police are now taking her away.
In his private life, Max Palu is in a crisis because his partner Margit wants to separate from him. After confronting the problems of a crumbling family in the murder case, he realizes how broken his own family ties are. Therefore, he decides for his private luck and gives Criminal Superintendent Stefan Deininger his "service" keys.

criticism
Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv writes: “The 'Tatort - Vengeance Angel' is so bad that you don't shed tears for Palu. [...] Everyone wanted to let it rip again. Krachleather is above all the game of the well-known cast! […] The basic idea is not bad at all, […] because as a viewer you don't know who it was either. However, the list of suspects is drastically shortened so quickly that the supposedly astonishing resolution can no longer surprise anyone. But that is not the problem with this film: Robert Sigl […] is turning the thriller more and more into a farce. The actors are basically too loud and act as if they were grimacing in front of a distant audience on an open-air stage. Klaus Peter Weber's camera prefers to show the people from extreme perspectives, which in the long run just seems to be trying. The cast is quite well-known (Alexander Held, Sylvester Groth, Renée Soutendijk, Annett Renneberg); But it is not only because of Nikolai Kinski that the company sometimes reminds us of the old Edgar Wallace films. "
Also TV movies rated this scene just as mediocre and says: "The screenplay for his departure wrote of the Office-tired Jochen Senf itself." It is "mustard's calm path into retirement".
