The Lisbon Sete Rios train station (also called Jardim Zoológico / Sete Rios ) is a regional and long-distance station of the Comboios de Portugal in the Lisbon municipality of São Domingues de Benfica . In addition, the Linha Azul underground station Jardim Zoológico is an underground connection to the train station. The train station is on the Linha de Cintura . To the west of it is the CP depot as well as a track triangle / rail cross between the Linha de Sintra and the Linha de Cintura to enable trips from the Sintra line to Roma Areeiro or to the Gare do Oriente .

history

The station opened in 1888 when the Linha de Cintura opened between Campolide and Chelas . At the same time it was connected to the Linha de Sintra and indirectly also to the Linha do Oeste with the connecting curve to Benfica . In 1957 the Linha de Cintura between Campolide and Chelas / Braço de Prata was electrified.

Sete Rios has also been a long-distance train station since 1999 with the opening of Linha do Sul via Ponte 25 de Abril .

Infrastructure

The railway section of the complex comprises four tracks, as the Linha de Cintura from Sete Rios to Roma-Areeiro has four tracks. There is also a large CP depot at the station. The location of the plant at this point is thanks to the excellent connections; from Sete Rios the main routes to the north, west and south as well as the suburban routes to Sintra and Cascais can be reached within a short time.

The complex also includes an underground station and a large bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Sete Rios).

Long-distance transport

Along with Santa Apolónia , Oriente and Entrecampos, Sete Rios is Lisbon's fourth long-distance train station. The Intercidades trains on the Lisbon Oriente - Faro and Lisbon Oriente - Évora routes stop here . The Alfa Pendular towards southern Portugal pass the station without stopping. A direct connection to Beja was abandoned in favor of the increase in train pairs to Évora in 2009.
