The newly engaged couple Janet Weiss and Brad Majors end up in the castle of the mysterious landlord Dr. Frank N. Furter. Little did they know that Furter is an alien from the transsexual planet in the Transylvania galaxy. Janet and Brad have a crazy night with Furter's bizarre companions.

In October 2015, Fox TV announced that it was working on a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show . It was directed by Kenny Ortega and co-produced by Lou Adler , who had already produced the 1975 original.
The transsexual actress Laverne Cox was hired as the first leading actor . Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan were hired for the central leading roles. Tim Curry , who played the lead role of Dr. Frank N. Furter embodied in the original film, could be hired as the narrator.
The film was shot from March 14th to April 27th, 2016 in Toronto, Canada . The budget for the film is estimated at $ 20 million.
The first scenes from the television film were shown at the San Diego Comic-Con International in July 2016. The world premiere of the film took place on October 18, 2016 at MIPCOM in Cannes . The first broadcast on Fox achieved an audience rating of 4.95 million viewers.
