Carmen proposes that the women meet again in the summer, but this seems impossible because they have other obligations. Bridget takes part in an archaeological research trip to Turkey . Before leaving, she finds a box with letters from her grandmother. After her trip, she decides to visit her grandmother. Lena attends a summer course at her art school and flirts with the male model Leo in order to forget Kostos, with whom she is still in love, but ends up returning to him after finding out that he is not married after all. Tibby works in a video store in New York and receives regular visits from her boyfriend, but whom she breaks up with when she thinks she is pregnant. Carmen changes her mind and takes part in a summer theater in Vermont with a friend. Through Ian, she unwittingly gets a leading role and thus draws Julia's anger. She tells Carmen that she would meet Ian because she knows that they have feelings for each other.

Michael Rechtshaffen wrote in The Hollywood Reporter on July 31, 2008 that the film had much of the “spark” and “warmth” that made the first film a “pleasant surprise” . The screenwriter again creates a balance between casual film drama and "sly humor" .

The lexicon of international film judges that the film production set itself apart “pleasantly from the majority of teenage comedies” by “the differentiated view that it throws on the problems of growing girls”.
