The district of Ticlacayán is located in the province of Pasco in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was founded on June 14, 1958 and has an area of 558 km². The 2017 census counted 3463 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2120, in 2007 it was 7543. The district administration is located in the approximately 3500 m high village of Ticlacayán with 1253 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ticlacayán is located about 20 km north-northeast of the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco .
Geographical location
The district of Ticlacayán is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the central north of the province of Pasco. The 5723 m high mountain Huaguruncho (also Nevado Tarata), highest mountain of the Cordillera Huaguruncho , rises on the eastern border of the district. In the west the district extends to the Río Huallaga .
The district of Ticlacayán borders in the west on the districts Yanacancha and San Francisco de Asís de Yarusyacán , in the northwest on the district Huariaca , in the central north on the district San Rafael ( province Ambo ), in the northeast on the district Pozuzo ( province Oxapampa ), im East to the Huachón district and to the south to the Ninacaca district .
