Tiger-Team - The Mountain of 1000 Dragons is a 2010 adventure film by the director and screenwriter Peter Gersina . The plot is based on the book series A Fall for You and the Tiger Team by the author Thomas Brezina .

action

According to legend, a child emperor from the 14th century who suffered from an incurable disease lived in the moonlight palace, which is located in the mountain of 1000 dragons . The entrance to the palace was locked with three keys and remained undiscovered.

600 years later: When the Tiger team Biggi, Patrick and Luk visit cousin Mae's Chinese restaurant, they accidentally break a statue that Mr. Bai had received as a gift for Mae from his father Cheng (Mae's godfather). Mr. Bai is head of a research station for panda bears in China and has come to Vienna to advise the Vienna Zoo on setting up the enclosure for two new pandas. A dragon sculpture from the Ming Dynasty was hidden in the statue .

When the Vienna Zoo held a competition in which the winners were allowed to pick up the two pandas for the Vienna Zoo from China, they manipulated the competition in their favor by participating with hundreds of letters and finally also with their suggestions for names for the pandas (“ Laughing Sun "and" Little Moon ") win.

Together with Mr. Bai, the animal keeper Krops and Mrs. Papus from the zoo, they set off on a trip to China.

Grandfather Cheng accidentally got hold of his dragon 60 years ago when he was playing with his friends Lin and Wang and a man entrusted them with a bundle of three dragon sculptures. The man, in a panic, fled from masked men with a black snake tattoo on the back of their hands. The dragon sculptures now turn out to be the key to accessing the moonlight palace in the mountain of 1000 dragons.

During the night a masked man who also wore the snake tattoo steals their key. Since a cosmetics company called Q Cosmetics has a similar snake symbol as its company logo and is also based in Beijing , they make their way to this company. There they actually come across their key again. The group boss Lady Q and her son Munroe have already expected them and throw them out again.

The child emperor suffered from a rare sun allergy. His mother had the palace built inside a mountain, where the child could spend the day and was only allowed to leave the palace in the moonlight. When the mother was researching a medicine against her son's illness, a liquid was discovered that brought a dead butterfly back to life. The liquid was called "The Elixir of Eternal Life".

In a museum they discovered a painting of the little emperor with his mother. They take a photo of it and after processing it on the computer they discover a map with the entrance to the mountain of 1000 dragons drawn on it.

They set out to find the other two keys that Cheng's friends at the time, Lin and Wang, have. When they want to visit Lin, they meet Mea-Ling, who explains to them that Lin has already passed away and has left an old pan. The handle of the pan turns out to be the second key. Cheng is kidnapped in the fish market in search of Wang. The Tiger team has to deliver all three keys to Lady Q so that Cheng can be released. Wang left numbers as a reference to the third key, which turn out to be geographic coordinates and refer to a watchtower on the Great Wall of China . There they find the third key in a bell, which is taken from them by Lady Q's people.

Lady Q wants to have the elixir analyzed in her laboratory and produce it herself in large quantities in order to create an army of immortal soldiers and thus become the most powerful woman in the world. When they deliver the last key to Lady Q in exchange for the captured Cheng, they are forced to accompany Lady Q and her people to the mountain.

After getting into the palace, they actually find the elixir there. In the meantime, Krops has called the police and Lady Q and her people are being taken away.

Since the elixir, if it falls into the wrong hands, poses too great a danger to mankind, it should be thrown away. The tiger team then decides to give it to the pandas so that this endangered species can survive. With their reward, the children want to buy land on the mountain of 1000 dragons and build a game park for panda bears there, which is supposed to bear the name of the little child emperor Ming Shu. With the park, his mother's wish would come true and the child-emperor would become immortal.

Reviews

“In the film, the children act like on an adventure playground. You can see the fun of filming when they chase through Chinese alleys, take a walk on the Great Wall and fight for entry to the secret palace. It's staged in an exciting way, and the outcome is uncertain for a long time. In addition, there are beautiful pictures that give viewers an insight into a strange world. "

- Cornelia Geissler - Berliner Zeitung

“'Tiger Team' is entertaining and exciting. [...] One of the most enjoyable scenes is the moment when Patrick, on the run from the secret society, slips into women's clothes and races along the Great Wall of China in high heels. When the three of them meet their opponents, it gets really exciting, for example during a breakneck escape through the narrow streets of Beijing or during the final battle in a cave of the Moonlight Palace, which is originally in Vietnam. "

“Lovelessly staged children's film based on a successful book series. The three young main characters are outlined in a similarly schematic way as the secondary characters, and while the plot hurries hectically from one station to the next, the staging can create neither tension nor humor. "
