Tilman boy
Tilman Knabe (* 1970 ) is a German theater director .
Life
Boy studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in August Everding Theater Director . He then completed a degree in Catholic theology . From 1989 to 1995 internships and assistant directors followed, for example with Peter Löscher at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel and under Frank Castorf at the Residenztheater in Munich as well as lan Judge at the English National Opera in London . During this time he received a postgraduate scholarship and the Falny Calitta scholarship .
Some of his productions received particular media attention. In the 2008/2009 season he staged a performance of Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns at the Cologne Opera, relocating the story to what is now the Middle East. Excessive depictions of violence, including a mass rape scene, led to numerous sick leave among the choir singers even before the first performance. He also portrayed scenes of violence in previous productions, for example at Salome in Essen.
