Titular diocese of Aulona
Aulona / Aulon ( Italian : Aulona ) is a titular bishopric of the Roman Catholic Church .
It goes back to a bishopric of the ancient city of the same name in Illyria , now Vlora in Albania . The diocese was founded in the 5th century as a suffragan of the metropolitan seat of Dyrrhachium (today Durrës ) and was probably badly damaged by raids in the 6th century and therefore relocated to the safer interior and given up as a bishopric.
