Tjæreborg Church

Tjæreborg Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Skast Herred in what was then Ribe Office , then to Esbjerg Municipality in the expanded Ribe Office , which was merged into the "new" Esbjerg Municipality in the Syddanmark region on January 1, 2007 as part of the municipal reform .

3164 inhabitants live in the parish, 2804 of them in the parish village of Tjæreborg (as of January 1, 2020). In the parish is the church "Tjæreborg Kirke".

Neighboring communities are Jerne Sogn in the west, Skads Sogn in the north and Sneum Sogn in the east . In the south the parish borders on the Wadden Sea .

The tourism company Tjaereborg was founded in 1950 in the church village by the parish priest and is named after the place.

A wind farm in Tjaereborg has been connected to the electricity grid via an HVDC link since 2000 . It is one of the first HVDC systems to be equipped with IGBTs that went into regular operation.
