The Tongrube Am Lantershofener Galgen nature reserve is located in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The approximately 8.4 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1989 , extends northwest of the local district Lantershofen . The state road L 83 runs north and east of the area , a little further north runs the A 61 and east the A 573 .
The protection purpose is the maintenance and development of the area with its water surfaces , its shallow water zones and wetlands as well as dry areas
- as habitats for rare animal species whose population is threatened
- as a habitat of rare plants whose existence is threatened as well
- for scientific reasons
