The Swistbachaue nature reserve is located in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 20  hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1986 , extends north of the Eckendorf district of the municipality of Grafschaft along the Swistbach . District road  36 runs directly on the southern edge and not far to the east of the area . The state border with North Rhine-Westphalia runs on the northern and partly on the eastern edge . The A 565 runs to the west and the A 61 to the south .

The protection purpose is the preservation of the Bachaue with its wet meadows as a habitat for rare wild plants and animals living under threat in their existence.
