Torre Alháquime is a small village and a municipality between Ronda and Olvera in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia ( southern Spain ), located on the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos ( Road of the White Villages ).

The village is built on a steep hill and is partially supported by the remains of the old city wall. Deep down below, the Guadalporcún River winds past the village.

Allegedly the foundation of this place goes back to the time of the Phoenicians ; However, there are no clear sources about this, neither documentary nor archaeological . That is why the founding is usually dated to the time of the Roman occupation . At that time, Torre Alháquime was used as a resting place for the Legion and was named Castra Gemina .

The current name comes from the time of the Almohads and combines the Latin word turris (tower) with and the Arabic name Al-Haqim ("the wise"; a proper name). It is said that at that time the ruler in the tower of the place, in other words: the mayor , was a wise man. This is how the place got its name.

After quite a few skirmishes , the village was captured by the Catholic Kings ( Los Reyes Católicos ) in 1485 during the Reconquista (reconquest) .

The area around Torre Alháquime is dominated by agriculture, mainly olive groves .
