The 19th stage of the Tour de France 2010 on July 24th was a 52 km long and flat individual time trial from Bordeaux to Pauillac . After Francesco Reda gave up , 170 of the 198 participants registered for the start of the tour started.
Race course
The first ten drivers started every minute, then the drivers started every two minutes. The top 20 in the overall standings finally started with an interval of three minutes. Bert Grabsch was the last in the overall standings to leave the ramp at 10:15 a.m. and set all the best times in the intermediate classifications and at the finish, which he reached after 1:02:44 hours. David Millar , who started at 10:25 am, crossed the finish line 2:32 minutes behind Grabsch. The next best times were set by Tony Martin , who started at 10:57 a.m. and reached the finish in 1:01:13 hours. At 11:21 AM, the prologue winner started Fabian Cancellara . In the first split he was nine seconds behind Martin, but in the second and third split he was nine seconds ahead of him. By the time he reached the finish line, he was able to increase his lead from 1:00:56 hours to 17 seconds. This time should not be undercut by anyone until the end of the race, as the wind became stronger in dry weather in the afternoon and made the journey difficult. Johan Vansummeren fell from the launch pad but was able to continue immediately.
Denis Menschow , who started at 3:53 p.m., needed two minutes less than his competitor for third place in the overall standings, Samuel Sánchez . With this, Menschow was able to convert his deficit of 21 seconds in the overall standings on Sánchez into a lead of 1:39 minutes and displace him from third place in the overall standings. At 3:59 p.m. Andy Schleck drove off the starting ramp, the overall leader Alberto Contador followed as the last starter at 4:02 p.m. At the first split, Contador was two seconds behind Schleck, and in the meantime even a little more. However, Schleck could not maintain his lead in the further course of the time trial and again lost time on Contador. At the finish, Schleck was around 31 seconds behind, allowing Contador to extend its lead in the overall standings to 39 seconds.
