Tour de France for automobiles 1979

The Tour de France for Automobiles 1979 was held as a stage race for automobiles from September 16 to 20 in France .

The Tour Auto was shortened to three stages in 1979, whereby the participants had to cover 4000 km and complete 41 special tests. The event started in Nantes and went via Roanne and Angoulême to Nice .

For a long time, Bernard Béguin led the race in a Porsche Carrera . After his failure, Bernard Darniche secured his third overall victory. Michèle Mouton won the women's standings and came third in the overall standings.
