action

The capuchin monkey and pickpocket Babi tells his nephew Babu how he met the buddies once in his life: The buddies' great-grandfather was the dog Digger of the archaeologist Thomas Howard. Together they found half of a dial that should lead them to the tomb of Queen Cleocatra. Since Howard couldn't find the other half, he gave up the treasure hunt and went back to Fernfield. He still lives there today, just like his grandson Pete, who only found out about his grandfather's adventures when he visited an Egyptian exhibition. After the British archaeologist, Phillip Wellington, arrives at the museum with his cat Ubasti, he reveals to Howard that he owns the other half of the dial. He insists on continuing the treasure hunt with him and Pete. Although Pete is not allowed to take his dog Mudbud with him, he and his siblings Budderball, B-Dawg, Buddha and Rosebud manage to get on board the plane and so on to Egypt. Once there, they first have a look around the oriental city, where they meet Babi. Babi helps them track down Pete and secretly follow the treasure hunts. A camel shows them how they can find their way in the desert, where their further path leads. But as the lead of Howard, Pete and Wellington continues to grow, the pups follow them at the end with a balloon that Babi has "organized" for them. Then they have to withstand a dangerous sandstorm, which they also manage with Babi's help and so they get to Cleopatra's burial chamber before the treasure hunters. Just as they are about to admire the treasures, Wellington Cat appears, because Howard has also managed to find his way to Cleocatra's grave with the help of the dial. Wellington now turns out to be a cunning grave robber who challenges Howard to a violent duel and wants the treasure to himself. With Pete's help, Howard wins and both are amazed when they meet the buddies here too. Wellington wants to flee from the tomb, but is expected and arrested by the Egyptian Secret Service, who was finally able to convict Wellington as a grave robber. Howard and Pete are declared national heroes along with the buddies and the museum in Fernfield receives the Cleopatra's collar on permanent loan as a thank you.

Babu thinks his grandfather just made up the story, but Babi smiles and hides Cleocatra's collar as evidence that he stole it from the Fernfield Museum.

criticism

Kino.de assessed: “Five bright golden retriever puppies are looking for treasures under palm trees and are once again saving the world and humanity in a good-humored comedy adventure from the Disney Factory. Once split off from the legendary 'Air Bud', the buddies have already experienced adventures as sled dogs, astronauts and ghost hunters for a presumably satisfied, because they keep accessing, children's audience. CGI fireworks of candy-colored real film with naively drawn conflicts and mild tension. "

Cinema.de , however, said: "Kinderjux, pulling the big leash."
