Trude Bechmann

Gertrud "Trude" Bechmann (born January 3, 1904 in Vienna , † July 25, 1982 in East Berlin ) was an Austrian actress who, in addition to her theater work, gained fame primarily through film and television productions by the DFF and DEFA .

Life

After studying German and history, she took acting lessons in Vienna before making her stage debut in Sankt Pölten in 1929 . This was followed by theater engagements on various German theaters as well as German-speaking theaters in the former Czechoslovakia . When the Nazis came to power, Bechmann took part in the anti-fascist resistance in exile .

After the end of the Second World War , Bechmann mainly worked on stages in Vienna before she followed theater engagements at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and the Berliner Ensemble . In addition, she took part in countless film and television productions in rather smaller roles, such as in the DEFA feature film "Johannes Kepler" by director Frank Vogel .
