history

1893 until the Second World War

Gymnastics Club "Germania" Grünewalde (1911)

The gymnastics is a sport that had quite an early stage established in what is now the city of Lauchhammer. As early as August 1893, the civil gymnastics club "Edelweiß" was founded in Bockwitz. Two years later, the first gymnastics area was set up in Brunnenstrasse. In the period that followed, gymnastics should develop into an integral part of the sport in the Mückenberger Ländchen. Other notable clubs in the Mückenberger Ländchen were the men's gymnastics club, MTV for short, Bockwitz "Gut Heil", the Bockwitz workers gymnastics club founded in 1908, the gymnastics club "Heimat" Dolsthaida , the gymnastics club "Gut Heil" in Mückenberg , the "Freie Turnerschaft" and the men's gymnastics club “TV Germania” in Kleinleipisch , the men's gymnastics clubs “TV Germania” and “Grüne Eiche” in Grünewalde and the men's gymnastics club Kostebrau .

A first gym, which was created by converting a barn that was previously used for gymnastics, was in 1907 on the property of the “Goldener Löwe” inn (today a community center) in Bockwitz. After taking part in the 1st Federal Festival of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (ATSB) in Leipzig in 1922 with around 100 athletes, the “1st ” was now held in Bockwitz. District gymnastics and sports festival ”. Competitions and other sporting events were also held in the other neighboring communities in the Ländchen (Mückenberg, Dolsthaida, Nauendorf, Kleinleipisch). The most successful gymnast of the early years is Alex Niemann (1911–1964), who was able to become Gaumeister several times in the 1930s. As a result of the Second World War, club life came to a standstill for some time.

Post-war period and GDR

A few months after the end of the war, on July 19, 1945, the gymnastics and sports community Bockwitz was re-established, which was renamed in 1946 as "Company Sports Association Braunkohle, Werksgruppe West". The first division manager was Paul Bloch. There was also the so-called children's gymnastics, which was initially directed by Martin Mehner. In 1950 Alex Niemann was finally head of the section, but three years later he handed over the office to Otto Hönicke and from 1958 took over the children's gymnastics of the BSG "Motor Lauchhammer-Ost". In the same year the BSG "Aktivist" Lauchhammer was founded. The most successful gymnasts of that time were Horst Fache (* 1934) and Ruth Helbig, both of whom were several district champions. Fache also took part in GDR championships 20 times, where he was able to achieve 5th place once. Heinz-Otto Werner , who in 1950 was still a member of the Lauchhammeraner team that took part in the GDR championship, became a GDR champion on pommel horse in 1953 as a member of the HSG Wissenschaft KMU Leipzig team . A year later he succeeded in doing this on the pommel horse, parallel bars , horizontal bar and in all- around competitions.

In 1960 Rudi Raschke took over the management of the section for the next 23 years. With the death of Alex Niemann in 1964, the children's gymnastics in Lauchhammer-Ost ceased. However, in that year a junior gymnastics base was founded, which was headed by Gerhard Kaubisch. And in 1968 the Lauchhammer training center was established. Lauchhammer became a talent factory and numerous children and young people were delegated to the children's and youth sports schools (KJS) in Forst , Cottbus , Dresden and Leipzig . The KJS were special schools in the GDR for talented children and young people. A large part of the participants in the Olympic Games and other international competitions, such as B. World and European championships , the GDR. In 1968, among others, the gymnast Magdalena Schmidt from Lauchhammer, who was delegated to the children's and youth sports school in Forst in 1960 and at that time started for SG Dynamo Berlin, won bronze at the Summer Olympics in Mexico City . Many other titles followed by athletes who had previously been discovered in Lauchhammeran competitive sport. Among other things, Bernd Schiller was third with the GDR team at the World Cup in Ljubljana in 1970 . In 1974 Annelore Zinke became world champion on the uneven bars . This made her the youngest female world champion in the history of the 18 title fights held on all continents. And Jana Fuhrmann (* 1968), who joined the KJS in 1978, came third in 1985 (now SC Einheit Dresden ) with the GDR team at the World Championships in Montreal, Canada .

Development since the turning point

The turning point at the beginning of the 1990s brought profound changes . The consequences of the collapse of the lignite industry , which had been shaping up to that point, were catastrophic for Lauchhammer, the surrounding area and the local sports clubs, as they now had to reorganize and, above all, finance. The BSG activist Lauchhammer was finally dissolved in 1992, because the VEB Braunkohleveredlung Lauchhammer only existed in fragments. The “Turn- und Gymnastikverein Lauchhammer 92” was founded on October 19, 1992 as the successor to the gymnastics section. In addition, four groups of women's gymnastics from the dissolved club and the girls' group from Chemie Schwarzheide, which was also dissolved, were integrated . And demographic change did not stop at Lauchhammer either. In 1998 the TGV 92 finally reached its peak in membership development with a total of 360 members. Since then, the club members have regularly participated in the German Gymnastics Festival (today Internationales Deutsches Gymnastics Festival ), state championships and other sporting events of all ages, where numerous successes were celebrated. The commemorative publication on the TGV 92 published in 2017 listed it as the sports club with the largest number of members in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz (OSL) district.
