Tyrolean Jet Services is an Austrian aviation company based in Innsbruck . TJS operates seven business jets , both for the readiness of the sole owner - the Swarovski company  - and for charter customers .

history

In 1978, Aircraft Innsbruck , which had existed since 1958, was taken over by Christian Schwemberger-Swarovski and Gernot Langes-Swarovski . The business travel division was operated with two Cessna Citations . At that time there was only one flight connection to Zurich at Innsbruck Airport . Thus, the experienced Aircraft Innsbruck great popularity with its business aircraft.

In 1978 the company was renamed and restructured as Tyrolean Airways , which combined the airline , air ambulance and business travel divisions .

On April 1, 1980, the first scheduled flight from Innsbruck to Vienna and Zurich with a DHC-7 - which was named "City of Innsbruck" - was taken. In the first year of operation, 38,500 passengers were booked, which justified the use of a second machine from May 1981. With it, the route network was expanded to include a Frankfurt route that is flown twice a day . In 1985 Tyrolean Airways was the first customer in Europe to receive a twin-engine De Havilland DHC-8 with 37 seats. The company was also renamed Tyrolean Jet Services .

Tyrolean hived off air rescue into Tyrol Air Ambulance and the helicopter division into Heliair .

In 1988 Tyrolean was transformed into a stock corporation and Leipnik Lundenburger Industrie-AG took over 25%. In 1995 the ÖAMTC took over the Heliair and Austrian Airlines the scheduled flight operations. From then on, TJS concentrated exclusively on business travel.

In 2006 the total flight time of the fleet was around 3100 hours. In 2007, TJS operated a total of five business jets - two of which were ultra-long-haul aircraft - and several aircraft were managed for external operators.

In 2008 TJS received the EBAA Silver Safety Award for their operation according to the EU OPS 1 standard. 2010 the EBAA Golden Safety Award , 2014 the EBAA Platinum Safety Award for their operation according to the EU OPS 2 standard

In 2013, Cloud Number 9 Catering GmbH, based at Innsbruck Airport, was taken over as a joint venture by Tyrolean Jet Services and Welcome Aviation Group. The company employs 25 pilots, three flight attendants, ten technicians, nine people in the service area and five in administration.

In 2016, a 100% subsidiary of TJS was founded in San Marino . TJS San Marino has its own Air Operator License (AOC), which authorizes the commercial operation of aircraft with the registration number T7. The ICAO code is TSR with the nickname SAN MARINO .

In 2017, another 100% subsidiary of TJS was founded in Malta. TJS Malta also has its own Air Operator License (AOC) which enables the commercial operation of aircraft with the registration number 9H. The ICAO code is TYJ.

The TJS has been a member of the Austrian Business Aviation Association since it was founded in 2010.
