Line B is a line on the New York City Subway and runs from 145 Street in Harlem via the IND Eighth Avenue Line , IND Sixth Avenue Line and BMT Brighton Line to Brighton Beach on Coney Island . Since it runs on the trunk line under the Avenue of the Americas ("6th Av."), The line color is orange.

Line B runs from Midtown Manhattan to Coney Island as an express train that only stops at selected stations. To the north of it, it stops at all stations along the route. It shares most of its route with line D , which also runs as an express on the northern section. In Brooklyn, it shares the route with the Q line , which stops here at all stations.

Line B operate only during the day on weekdays , as well as all stations are served by other lines on weekends and at night. At rush hour , trains continue north on the IND Concourse Line to Bedford Park Boulevard in the Bronx , these trains are identified by a diamond icon .
