Games in detail
Germany - Japan 1: 0 (0: 0)
For the German team, the games at the US Cup were the first games after winning the European Championship in July 2001. The DFB-Elf saw them primarily as preparation for qualifying for the 2003 World Cup . The Germans won their first game with a goal from debutante Verena Hagedorn . It should be her only international goal.

Germany - China / USA - Japan / USA - China (all canceled)
The games scheduled for September 11 between Germany and China or between the USA and Japan were postponed to an unspecified date a few hours before kick-off due to the terrorist attacks on September 11 and finally canceled.
The same was true for the game between the USA and China, which would have been a remake of the final of the 1999 World Cup and was originally supposed to take place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Kansas, before a game between the Kansas City Wizards and the Colorado Rapids .
