occupation

Libero Martini
interpreted by Lino Banfi , is the grandfather and - especially during the absence of his son Lele for several seasons - the head of the family. He worked as a railroad worker all his life and is known for his witty inserts. Widowed since the first episode, he constantly dreams of his deceased wife, but also falls in love a few times; first in Marité, then in Antoinette and finally in Enrica, his son's mother-in-law, whom he married at the end of the sixth season. His motto is: "Una parola è troppa e due sono poche" (in German roughly: "One word is too much and two are little"). In the sixth season he appears less often due to his move to Apulia .
Gabriele "Lele" Martini
interpreted by Giulio Scarpati , is a doctor and the father of the family. He is mainly there during the first two seasons and then disappears almost completely from the scene for several seasons. After his guest appearance in the first episode of the third season and the last episode of the fourth season, he finally returns to the series for the sixth season. He is the son of Libero Martini and father of Maria, Ciccio and Annuccia and the twins Libero jun. (also called Bobò) and Elena. Constantly busy with his medical work and always on cloud nine, he cares wholeheartedly about his children's problems, but does not necessarily notice them when they really have them. At the beginning of the series, Lele is a widower, who two years ago lost his first wife, Elena ( Beatrice Bocci ), to her death and is now on her own with his father, raising three children. His life seems to take a turn when he falls in love with Irene ( Edi Angelillo ). But the relationship between the two is shaken several times until it breaks completely. Lele discovers his love for his sister-in-law Alice and confesses his love to her. They get married and have children together: the twins Libero (also called Bobò) and Elena. After starting out together in Australia , where he worked as a doctor, he became a lecturer at the Sorbonne in Paris . After separating from Alice in season six, he returns with the twins to his family in Italy for a research semester.
Alice Solari, cut Martini
interpreted by Claudia Pandolfi , protagonist of the first and second seasons. She is the sister of Elena, Lele's first wife to die. She has loved Lele for a long time and will later become his second wife. The two give birth to twins - Libero (called Bobò) and Elena. After working as the head of the radio station Radiotua, she went to Australia with Lele. In the sixth season, the split between Alice and Lele is known.
Emilio Villari
interpreted by David Sebasti , protagonist of the fifth season. He is a young doctor who rented a room at Lele Martini's home. Initially unpopular with grandfather, he manages to get into harmony with the Martini family. First engaged to Alba, the daughter of his powerful employer Gualtiero, he falls in love with his Indian colleague Sarita, with whom he works in Poggio Fiorito's private clinic. Emilio carries out his work extremely conscientiously and is sometimes strict with his colleagues.
Sarita Dahvi
interpreted by Shivani Ghai , plays the role of a doctor in the fifth season. She moved to Rome with her two brothers and her grandfather, who opened a restaurant there. She finds a job at Poggio Fiorito's clinic and also helps her grandfather run his restaurant. She meets Emilio even before they work together. Over time, falls in love with him, even though she knows he's engaged. When Emilio leaves his fiancée, Alba, Sarita has to deal with the traditionalist views of her grandfather.
Guido Zanin †
interpreted by Pietro Sermonti , plays in the third, fourth and sixth seasons of the series. He is a young doctor and is looking for accommodation at the beginning of the third season. He went to the university bulletin board and met Maria ( Margot Sikabonyi ) and her friend Rebby. Thanks to the informality of Maria's friend, he learns that a room is available in the Martini family's house. He rents the room that Lele previously lived in. Guido then finds a job in the same clinic where Lele worked. Over the course of the series, he has an affair with Maria. The two later marry and have a daughter, Paola Enrica Ave (Palù). In the sixth season, Guido cheats on his wife, whereupon Maria separates from him, which affects the entire Martini family deeply. After various attempts by the whole family to bring the two back together, Maria forgives her husband and is reconciled again.

Her relationship with her brother Ciccio is full of conflict, while she is on friendly terms with her sister Annuccia as a constant accomplice. She falls in love with Guido, whom she marries after some adversity. At the beginning of the fifth season she returns from Africa, where she and Guido supported a medical humanitarian aid organization. On the black continent, she had a profound, terrible experience that she never spoke about to anyone, not even her husband Guido. She had to choose which of two children she would save. Determined not to pursue the study of medicine any further, she went through a period of maturation. Thanks to her friendship with Sarita, she finally decides to become a doctor, to the delight of the whole family, especially her grandfather Libero. In the sixth season she gives birth to her first child, Paola Enrica Ave (Palù).

In the third season she meets Augusto Torello ( Francesco Salvi ), who falls in love with her. The two get engaged and split up for a short time due to a misunderstanding. After all misunderstandings have been cleared up, Cettina and Augusto get married in the final episode of the third season. In the last episode of the fourth season she finds out that she is pregnant and gives birth to little Eros in the years between the fourth and fifth season. In the fifth season, she experiences a marriage crisis with Augusto. In the sixth season, in which she only appears as a guest, an accident happens at the beginning of the season in which she is wrongly declared dead. Only at the end of the sixth season does it emerge that Cettina is still alive, but has apparently suffered a memory loss. With the help of the Martini family, she remembers everything and is reunited with her husband and son.
Augusto Torello

He heads one of the most important companies in the funeral industry and for this reason is not given much attention by Cettina. He falls madly in love with her, but it takes time for Cettina to return his love. He's a bit crazy and clumsy, and after meeting Cettina, he also forms a solid bond with the Martini family, albeit not in a flashy way. The two get married at the end of the third season and he always remains loyal to her, even when she leaves him and has a love affair with Kabir, which plunges him into deep despair. When Cettina goes missing in an accident at the beginning of the sixth season, he moves to Brescia with his son Eros .
