Untersuhl is a district of Gerstungen in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

location

Untersuhl is located on the southwestern edge of the municipality of Gerstungen on the border with Hesse and the Werra . The geographic height of the place is 215  m above sea level. NN . The local situation has grown together with Gerstungen. To the west, state road 1022 touches the district and crosses state road 1021 on the outskirts. North of the district runs federal motorway 4 with the Gerstungen junction and the Weihetal bridge . The Thuringian Railway in the Eisenach - Bebra section with Gerstungen station runs through the town.

history

On June 27, 1226 Untersuhl was first mentioned in a document. 1317-1318 Ludwig von Frankenstein sold the Untersuhl belonging to Lengsfeld Castle . It later belonged to the Gerstungen office .

Untersuhl was incorporated into Gerstungen on January 1, 1960. 600 residents lived in the district in 2009. The Untersuhl Round Church is an architecturally unusual Evangelical Lutheran parish church.
