geography

Wiederstedt is located on the eastern edge of the Harz , about 3 kilometers northeast of Hettstedt , at the confluence of the Walbke in the Wipper .

history

As traces of the earliest settlement, a mass grave from the time of the linear ceramics was found in 1998 when the fire station was expanded . This eludes classification in the classic three-part division of settlement, grave and hoard finds.

  • The community was first mentioned in a document from Otto I in 948.
  • In 1264 the lords of Friedeburg donated three hooves to the nunnery in Wiederstedt in Neustede ( Nienstedt desert ).
  • In 1296 the citizens of Nienstet fought violently with the monastery in Wiederstedt over the tithe .

The monastery, office and village of Wiederstedt were pledged on April 13, 1561 by the Counts of Mansfeld to Jacob von Blanckenburg for the sum of 14,000 gold thalers. Through his niece, the estate came to the von Hardenberg family at the beginning of the 17th century.

On July 1, 1950, the communities of Unterwiederstedt and Oberwiederstedt merged to form the community of Wiederstedt.
