However, the surrounding low mountain ranges are also involved in reducing the amount of precipitation and the higher number of sunny days .

history

Catholic Church of St. Peter in Upsprunge
Old Upsprunge coat of arms

Due to its favorable soil and water conditions, the place is one of the oldest settlements in the Paderborn Monastery (prince-bishopric) . The source of the Heder , on the banks of which Upsprunge lies, gave the village its name. The first people settled in the settlement, which at the time was still called “up dem Springe”, around the year 1000. The first documentary mention as "Upspringe" was proven in 1216, when the Paderborn Bishop Bernhard III. von Oesede transferred the tithe from Upspringe in the parish of Vielsen to Abbot Albert von Abdinghof . In the Middle Ages , Upsprunge owned a chapel, which was built in 1424. The current St. Peter's Church was consecrated in 1896. In 1920 the parish of Salzkotten took place. In the meantime, there is a partially joint administration with the pastoral area Salzkotten, which includes all parts of the city.

Incorporation

On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Upsprunge was incorporated into Salzkotten due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law of November 5, 1974 .

The Salzkotten-Boke office was dissolved during the local reorganization , as the cities and municipalities are now directly subordinate to the districts. Upsprunge is a district Salzkottens and elected by the citizens City Council selects for the districts of mayor . The legal successor to the former municipality of Upsprunge is the city of Salzkotten.
