geography
Geographical location
Mantinghausen was part of the duckbill of the old district of Büren and is located in the lip lowlands , according to the division most commonly used today in the manual of the natural spatial structure of Germany in the subunit 540.20 Obere Lippetalung , the subunit 540.2 Ostmünsterländer Sande , the main unit 540 Ostmünsterland and the main unit group 54 Westphalian Bay heard.
Waters
The lip forms the southern border of the area around the town.
Neighboring places
Starting in the north, Mantinghausen borders clockwise on the Delbrücker districts of Westenholz , Hagen and Boke , the Salzkottener districts of Schwelle and Verlar , and the Lippstadt districts of Garfeln and Rebbeke . The cities of Delbrück and Salzkotten belong to the Paderborn district , Lippstadt to the Soest district .
geology
In the area of the lip lowlands , limestone and marlstone formed as sediment in seas in the Cretaceous period . During the Ice Age , ground moraines were formed under glaciers and inland ice , which appear here as boulder clay and gravel above the rocks mentioned .
Above that, sand and gravel were brought in from the Senne through the Lippe and deposited. In the area of rivers and streams there were also alluvial deposits and the moors were also formed in the Holocene . The wind formed the sand into dunes , which are now largely dismantled. From the sands was Podsol in which a Ortsteinschicht hampered root growth. In the area of the Lippe floodplain, floodplain loam was created by the sedimentation of suspended matter.
climate
Like Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Mantinghausen belongs to the oceanic climatic area of northwest Germany , to which it owes its low temperature contrasts and mild winters. However, continental influences are already at work . The temperature in summer is higher and the nights are cooler than in closer proximity to the coast. However, the surrounding low mountain ranges are also involved in reducing the amount of precipitation and the higher number of sunny days .
history
The area of Mantinghausen has belonged to the area of the later Hochstift Paderborn (historical territory) since Carolingian times .
In 1802 the Paderborn bishopric lost its state independence when it was occupied by Prussia , but fell back to the Kingdom of Westphalia for a few years in 1807 and to Prussia in 1813 after the Napoleonic defeat. Mantinghausen is incorporated into the province of Westphalia , which was founded in 1815, and by decree of the royal government in Minden it comes to the Büren district, which was founded in 1816 . The four farmers Mantinghausen, Mettinghausen , Niederdedinghausen and Rebbeke together form the community Rebbeke . When the districts are divided into offices , Rebbeke comes to the office of Boke, which in 1859 is merged with the office of Salzkotten to form the office of Salzkotten-Boke. In 1861 Mantinghausen was separated from Rebbeke and became an independent municipality.
Incorporation
Before January 1, 1975, the former municipality of Mantinghausen belonged to the Salzkotten-Boke office in the Büren district . With the Sauerland / Paderborn Act coming into force on this day, most of the municipalities of the Salzkotten-Boke office and thus also Mantinghausen will be merged to form the new town of Salzkotten and will become part of the Paderborn district. The legal successor to the dissolved office of Salzkotten-Boke and the municipality of Mantinghausen is the city of Salzkotten.
Mantinghausen is a district Salzkottens and elected by the citizens City Council selects for the districts of mayor .
