Schwelle is a scattered settlement typical of the area around the Lippe , which lies in the urban area of Salzkotten in the Paderborn district and is part of the Bürener Land and the Paderborn monastery (region) . The place has 656 inhabitants.
geography
Geographical location
Threshold was part of the duckbill of the old district of Büren and is in the lip lowlands , according to the division most commonly used today in the manual of the natural spatial structure of Germany in the sub-unit 540.20 Upper Lippe valley , which belongs to the sub-unit 540.2 Ostmünsterländer Sande , the main unit 540 Ostmünsterland and the main unit group 54 Westphalian Bay heard.
Waters
The lip forms the northern border of the district, in which here northeast of threshold at an altitude of 83 m above sea level. NHN the Heder coming from Verne flows.
Neighboring places
Beginning in the north, threshold borders on the Delbrücker district Boke and the Salzkottener districts Thüle , Verne , Verlar and Mantinghausen . These localities all belong to the Paderborn district .
geology
In the area of the lip lowlands , limestone and marlstone formed as sediment in seas in the Cretaceous period . During the Ice Age , ground moraines were formed under glaciers and inland ice , which appear here as boulder clay and gravel above the rocks mentioned .
Above that, sand and gravel were brought in from the Senne through the Lippe and deposited. In the area of rivers and streams there were also alluvial deposits and the moors were also formed in the Holocene . The wind formed the sand into dunes , which are now largely dismantled. From the sands was Podsol in which a Ortsteinschicht hampered root growth. In the area of the Lippe floodplain, floodplain loam was created by the sedimentation of suspended matter.
climate
Like Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Schwelle belongs to the oceanic climatic area of northwest Germany , to which it owes low temperature differences and mild winters. However, continental influences are already at work . The temperature in summer is higher and the nights are cooler than in closer proximity to the coast. However, the surrounding low mountain ranges are also involved in reducing the amount of precipitation and the higher number of sunny days .
Local division
The place consists of the three small settlements Holsen, Schwelle and Winkhausen.
history
The oldest of the three settlements is probably Holsen, which was probably first mentioned in a document in 1101. This was followed by threshold, which was first mentioned in 1256 and Winkhausen was mentioned as the last settlement in 1297. Until the liberation of the peasants in 1810, the peasants were subject to the von Alten, von Hörde and Paderborn cathedral chapter. At that time, the residents of the settlements belonged to the parish of St. Landolinus Boke. In 1810 the first chapel was built in Holsen. A primary school had been built a few years earlier and existed until 1968.
Incorporation
On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Schwelle was incorporated into Salzkotten due to the Sauerland / Paderborn law of November 5, 1974 .
The Salzkotten-Boke office was dissolved during the local reorganization , as the cities and municipalities are now directly subordinate to the districts. Threshold is a district Salzkottens and elected by the citizens City Council selects for the districts of mayor . The legal successor to the office of Salzkotten-Boke and the municipality of Schwelle is the city of Salzkotten.
