Usman Ally

Usman Ally (born August 27, 1982 in Swaziland , now Eswatini) is an American actor .

life and career

Usman Ally was born in the small African state of Swaziland and also spent the first eighteen years of his life in Botswana , Kenya , Tanzania and Pakistan . He then moved to the United States, where he studied theater and anthropology at Lewis & Clark College in Portland , Oregon , each with a Masters degree. He later earned the Magna cum laude distinction from the University of Florida for the drama program.

After graduation, Ally moved to Chicago , where he gained his first experience as a stage actor. As a result, he was awarded several prizes for his theater performances, including as Bagheera in The Jungle Book or as Bashir in The Invisible Hand , for which he a. a. was awarded an Obie Award .

Ally is also active in film and television. In 2011 he took on the recurring role of Nasim Marwat in the series Damages . Further series appearances followed in Blue Bloods - Crime Scene New York , Person of Interest , Madam Secretary , Castle , Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Nobodies . From 2016 to 2017 he appeared as Ambassador Al Jaffar in the political comedy series Veep - The Vice President . In 2017, he also took on a recurring role in A Series of Unfortunate Events , which he played through 2019. In 2019 he took on one of the leading roles in the comedy series On Becoming a God in Central Florida .

His film appearances include Chicago Overcoat , Star Trek Into Darkness and Just Like a Woman . Ally currently lives in Los Angeles .
