Uwe-Michael Gutzschhahn
Uwe-Michael Gutzschhahn ( pseudonym : Moritz Eidechser , born January 31, 1952 in Langenberg (Rhineland) ) is a German writer and translator .
life and work
Gutzschhahn studied German and English at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In 1978 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on Christoph Meckel . He then worked as a publishing editor. Gutzschhahn lives in Munich today .
Uwe-Michael Gutzschhahn is the author of stories , books for children and young people and poems . He has also emerged as the editor of anthologies and as a translator from English .
Gutzschhahn is a member of the Association of German Writers and the PEN Center Germany . In 1979 he received the Literature Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , in 1984 the Würzburg Literature Prize and in 1993 the Prize of the International Lake Constance Conference . In 2011 he was awarded the Catholic Children's and Youth Book Prize together with the author for Morris Gleitzmans Once , which he received again in 2019 for the translation I Know, Tonight I Will Dream , together with the Australian author Steven Herrick. In 2019 Uwe-Michael Gutzschhahn was appointed to the Munich tower clerk.
