Väskinde is a place ( Tatort ) on the Swedish Baltic Sea island Gotland in the Gotland County and the historic Gotland Province. The place in the municipality of Gotland is about ten kilometers from the main town Visby .
The Väskinde church dates from the 13th century. There is a picture stone in its vicinity , which was dated to the period 400 to 600 AD. The dominant vortex wheel motif (a forerunner of the swastika ) is also interpreted as a sun symbol.
From 1900 the two artists William Blair Bruce and Carolina Benedicks-Bruce lived on the Brucebo country estate belonging to Väskinde . Both are buried in the Väskinde cemetery. Brucebo has been open as an artist museum since 2012.
