economy
Gotland is a traditional agricultural area where cattle breeding (around 3/4 of the agricultural income) dominates. Around four times as many people as the national average work in agriculture. In contrast, Gotland is an industrially weak area. Gotland has only 11 industrial companies with more than 50 employees. The capital goods industry and the food industry are the predominant branches of industry. The service sector has doubled over the past few decades.
