Lummelunda is a village on the Swedish island of Gotland , 17 km north of Visby . The church of Lummelunda is located in the village . Lummelunda is also named for the parish ( Swedish socken ) Lummelunda and the grotto of Lummelunda about 4.5 km to the south .

The Statistiska centralbyrån has designated the southern part of the place together with the adjacent Etebols as småort Lommelunda och Etebols .

history

In 1350 the place was called "Lomalunda" . The name probably comes from the rectory. No translation is known for the first part of the name, while the ending “lund” could stand for “wood” or “small forest” , perhaps a sacred grove from pagan times.

The parish of Lummelunda is located on the west coast of Gotland, the place itself is about 1.5 km from the coast. The area of ​​the parish is characterized by flat terrain and wooded cliffs in the northwest. Lummelunda had 109 inhabitants and 20 hectares on December 31, 2010. The parish of Lummelunda had 397 inhabitants and 23.79 km², all of which is land area.
