Vaqif Füzuli oğlu Cavadov (in Germany mostly Vagif Cavadov , also Javadov and Djavadov ; born May 25, 1989 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani football player .

Career

Cavadov was born in the Azerbaijani city of Baku. When he was 7 he started playing soccer in one of the soccer teams. Then at the age of 11 he went to CSKA Moscow, where he was often used as a striker. After playing through all the youth departments at CSKA, he received his first professional contract in July 2006. He signed a one-year contract and was numbered “89”, but the right-footed center forward did not play a single game in Moscow in three years.

After a few meetings, Vaqif Cavadov agreed with the coach Qurban Qurbanov to move to the Azerbaijani first division club Qarabağ Ağdam . He was much improved and became a fan favorite. He strengthened his reputation with an impressive two seasons in the Premyer Liqası , in which he completed almost 100 games and scored 37 goals. With Qarabağ Ağdam Cavadov became Azerbaijani champion and cup winner 2008/09. He scored the decisive 1-0 in the 57th minute against İnter Baku .

Thanks to good performances at Qarabağ Ağdam and in the 2010 World Cup qualification , he moved to the Flemish first division club FC Twente Enschede at the end of December 2009 for around 250,000 euros . There Cavadov signed a four-year contract until June 2013. However, during the eight months in Enschede he was never used due to an injury. With Twente he became Dutch champion in 2009/10 and winner of the Johan Cruyff bowl in 2010. The contract with Twente was terminated at the end of June 2011 after Cavadov had played for FK Baku for ten months.

On August 30, 2010 Twente Enschede awarded Cavadov to the Azerbaijani club FK Baku for one year .

National team

Cavadov played for the Azerbaijani U-17 national team from 2002 to 2004, where he played 7 games. In 2005 he became a U-21 national player of Azerbaijan, where he was a regular player in 2008 thanks to good performances at Qarabağ Ağdam and scored 4 goals in 11 games. On May 18, 2006 Cavadov made his debut in the senior team in the game against Moldova , which ended 0-0. He scored one of his goals in the qualifier against Russia , which ended sensationally 1: 1.

Cavadov caused a sensation on September 7, 2010 in the game against Germany when he inflicted an orbital fracture on Per Mertesacker . In that game he also scored his 6th international goal by converting a corner kick directly.

For the 2014/15 season Cavadov moved to the Turkish second division club Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor . After half a season he left this club again and joined the league rivals Boluspor .

In the summer of 2015 Cavadov returned to Azerbaijan and was hired by FK Xəzər Lənkəran . From this club he was loaned to FK Qəbələ for the 2015/16 season.
