Evangelos "Vangelis" Pavlidis ( Greek Ευάγγελος "Βαγγέλης" Παυλίδης ; born November 21, 1998 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek football player . The striker is under contract with Willem II Tilburg in the Dutch Eredivisie and is a senior international .

Career

Pavlidis moved from Thessaloniki- based Bebides 2000 to the youth department at VfL Bochum in 2014 . There he moved up to the professional squad for the 2015/16 season . In mid-April 2016 he signed his first professional contract with a term until June 30, 2019. On May 15, 2016, Pavlidis was in the first team's squad for the league game at 1. FC Heidenheim and made his debut in a 4-2 win in the 2 Bundesliga , after he came on for Janik Haberer in the 78th minute .

On January 26, 2018, VfL Bochum awarded it to the regional league club Borussia Dortmund II for the rest of the season . The loan was extended for the 2018/19 regional league season; at the same time, Pavlidis also extended his contract with VfL Bochum until June 30, 2020.

The loan contract was terminated prematurely on January 16, 2019 after 32 missions and 6 goals in the service of Westphalia and Pavlidis was loaned to the Dutch first division club Willem II Tilburg in order to be able to prove himself at a higher level. The loan agreement contains an obligation clause. After 12 appearances in the Eredivisie, in which he scored 3 goals, the Dutch withdrew the purchase option at the end of April 2019 and provided Pavlidis with a contract valid until June 2022. In the 2019/20 season he became a regular player and was in the starting line-up in each of the 25 league games until the season was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

National team

Pavlidis took part in the U17 European Championship in Bulgaria with the Greek U17 national team in May 2015 . In the tournament he was used in all group games, but could not prevent his team from being eliminated despite two goals scored. He played a total of 13 games for the U17 and scored four goals.

On October 8, 2015, Pavlidis made his debut in a 2-1 win over Russia in the U19 team . Two days later he was used again in another game against Russia (1: 1). Overall, he scored three goals in eleven games for the U19s. In January 2018 Pavlidis played twice for the U20 national team . In June 2019 he came to two missions for the U21 .

On September 5, 2019, Pavlidis made his debut in the 1-0 defeat in the European Championship qualification against Finland in the national team .
