Victor Bodson (born March 24, 1902 in Luxembourg , † June 29, 1984 in Bad Mondorf ) was a Luxembourg politician ( LSAP ).

From 1940 to 1947 and again from 1951 to 1959 he was Luxembourg's Minister of Transport and Justice . From 1964 to 1967 he headed the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies as President. In 1967 he was sent to the European Commission by the government of the Grand Duchy . In the Rey Commission he was then appointed Commissioner for Transport by President Jean Rey . When the Commission's term of office ended in 1970, Albert Coppé became the new Transport Commissioner and Albert Borschette became the new Commissioner appointed by Luxembourg.

Rescuing persecuted Jews

During World War II , Bodson saved about 100 Jews from the Holocaust . He made his house in Steinheim on the German-Luxembourg border available as a stopover on an escape route for Jews from Germany. The refugees who had swum through the Sauer were cared for in his house and placed in safe hiding spots by Bodson.

Because of his efforts, Victor Bodson was the first Luxembourger to be honored by Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations in 1971 .
