Villem-Henrik Koitmaa (born October 3, 1990 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Vasas Budapest in the MOL league since 2018 .
Career
Villem-Henrik Koitmaa began his career as an ice hockey goalkeeper in his hometown Tallinn with the Tallinn Stars there , with whom he became Estonian champions in 2006 and 2007 . In 2007 he moved to local rival Tallinn HC Panter Purikad , where he only stayed for one season. He spent the following three years in Finland, where he stood on the ice for Heinolan Kiekko in the Mestis and for Jeppis Pietarsaari in the Suomi-sarja . In 2011 he returned to the Panthers in Tallinn. At the turn of the year 2013/14 he moved to HC Viking Tallinn and won the championship with the club. In 2015 he moved to Milton Keynes Thunder in the third-class English National Ice Hockey League for one season . In the spring of 2016 he moved to the southern hemisphere, where he played for Dunedin Thunder in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League and was immediately voted the club's most valuable player . After the season in New Zealand in the northern hemisphere summer, he returned to Europe in October 2016 and initially played for Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in the MOL League for two years . In 2018 he moved to league competitor Vasas Budapest .
International
For Estonia , Koitmaa took part in the junior division in Division II at the U18 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 , the U20 World Championships in 2008 and 2010 and the U20 World Championship in Division I in 2009 .
In the senior category, Koitmaa stood at the World Championships of Division I in 2011 , 2013 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 , when he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament with the best catch rate and the lowest goal against goals, as well as Division II in 2009 , when he was not only achieved the best goal conceded of the tournament, but was also elected the best player of his team, in 2010 and 2012 , when he achieved both the second best catch rate and the second best conceded goal of the tournament behind the Spaniard Ander Alcaine , in the box of the team from the Baltic States. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang . He was also in the goal of the Estonians at the Baltic Cup in 2016 and 2017.
Coaching career
Koitmaa is also active as a trainer during his active career. He was the goalkeeping coach of the Estonian U18 team at the 2013 and 2014 World Championships in Division II.
