The coal mining in the Vosges and the Jura mountains existed from the 16th century to the 20th century. In this region there are four deposits from three geological periods.

  • Lons-le-Saunier
  • Franche-Comté
  • Haute-Saône
  • Valley of the Villé
  • Deposit in the valley of Villé , Vosges ( Stefan )

    • Saulnot : mining from the 16th century to 1925
    • Gémonval : dismantling from 1826 to 1944
    • Gouhenans : dismantling from 1828 to 1916
    • Le Vernoy : dismantled from 1839 to 1852
    • Athesans : dismantled from 1839 to 1916
    • Vy-lès-Lure : dismantling from 1842 to 1943
    • Mélecey : mining from 1773 until the 19th century
    • Grozon : mining from 1845 to the 1940s
