Węgornik ( German : Aalgraben ) is a small village in the urban and rural municipality Police (Pölitz) in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Powiat Policki ( Pölitz district ).
Geographical location
Węgornik is located in eastern Western Pomerania in the eastern part of the Ueckermünder Heide ( Puszcza Wkrzańska ), about 15 kilometers northwest of Stettin ( Szczecin ) and 11 km west of Police . The distance to the German-Polish border is only 4 km. By Węgornik the river flows Gunica ( Aalbach ), which is used as a canoe route.
history
Aalgraben belonged before 1945 to Gutsbezirk Nassenheide in rural county Randow , from 15 October 1939 at the county Ueckermünde in the administrative district of Stettin of the Prussian province of Pomerania . After the Second World War , Aalgraben became part of Poland as Węgornik .
church
Before 1945 Aalgraben was a special sermon place of the parish Böck (today Polish: Buk) in the parish of Pasewalk in the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Otto Ebert .
