Tanowo (German Falkenwalde ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Police in the Powiat Policki ( Pölitzer district ).

history

Village house

Falkenwalde was first mentioned in a document in 1277. Until 1522 it was a monastery village that became ducal property in the course of secularization.

Until October 14, 1939 Falkenwalde belonged to the Randow district and after its dissolution came to the Ueckermünde district . It remained in the district of Stettin in the Pomeranian province .

After the end of the Second World War , the village was renamed part of Poland in 1945 and Tanowo . About 850 people now live here, compared to 697 in 1925 and 988 in 1939.

church

Falkenwalde was - as Tanowo is today - a church village. An independent parish was only established on October 1, 1847. Previously, the place, like the neighboring village of Hagen , was a branch church in the parish of Jasenitz . Since then, Hagen and Falkenwalde have belonged to the parish of Falkenwalde, into which the Zedlitzfelde (Sieldice) branch church was later incorporated.

Before 1945 Falkenwalde was predominantly Protestant . In 1940, 2300 parish members belonged to the parish, who concentrated on the places Alt Glashütte, Alt Leese (Stare Leśno), Günnitz (Gunice), Hagen (Tatynia), Hohenleese (Leśno Górne), Neuhaus (Sławoszewo), Trestin (Treszczyn) and Zedlitzfelde (Siedlice) distributed. Falkenwalde belonged to the parish of Ueckermünde in the church province of Pomerania (seat: Stettin ) of the Church of the Old Prussian Union (seat: Berlin ). Since 1945 the evangelical inhabitants of Falkenwalde have been integrated into the parish of St. Trinitatis (before 1945: St. Gertrudkirche) in Stettin in the diocese of Wroclaw of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

A large part of the church records (baptisms, weddings, burials) from the period before 1945 have been preserved and are now stored in the Evangelical Central Archive in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

A predominantly Roman Catholic population has lived in Tanowo since 1945 . Tanowo is the seat of a parish belonging to the Police Dean's Office in the Archdiocese of Stettin-Cammin of the Catholic Church in Poland .

Attractions

The Świdwie nature reserve ( Ramsar Convention , January 3, 1984) near Węgornik ( Aalgraben ) has the road to Węgornik from the northern part of the village near Gunice ( Günnitz ). The kayak tourist trail on the Gunica ( Aalbach ) river from Węgornik leads through Tanowo, Tatynia, Wieńkowo to Police-Jasienica .
