The WFV-Pokal 1979/80 was the 27th edition of the men's cup competition in Württemberg amateur football. The defending champion was VfR Aalen . In the final on April 30, 1980 in Stuttgart , the amateur team of VfB Stuttgart prevailed with a 3-2 win against VfR Heilbronn in a duel between two major division clubs . As a champion of the 1979/80 Oberliga season , this won the double , which was followed a few weeks later by a 2-1 victory over FC Augsburg in the final of the German amateur championship in 1980, the triple .
The VfB amateur team won their second national cup title after winning the final in the 1969/70 competition and was one of the five record cup winners at the time.
Both finalists qualified for the DFB Cup 1980/81 by participating in the final , where they were drawn from the Bundesliga in the first main round . While the cup winners from Stuttgart only had to admit defeat to Borussia Dortmund after extra time , the Heilbronn team conceded a smooth 3-0 defeat against 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
