WFV Cup 2016/17
The WFV-Pokal 2016/17 was the 65th edition of the WFV-Pokal as the highest cup competition of the Württemberg Football Association . The regional league team at that time, Sportfreunde Dorfmerkingen , won the title with a 3-1 win in the final against the three leagues higher playing Stuttgarter Kickers from the Regionalliga Süd . By winning the WFV Cup, the seventh division qualified for the DFB Cup 2017/18 .
The title win was the second cup victory in the history of Sportfreunde Dorfmerkingen after 1998 . The club rose in parallel to the sixth class Verbandsliga Württemberg . The final opponent Stuttgarter Kickers stood for the fifth time in the club's history in the final of the association cup, which the club won in 2005 and 2006 .
The first three rounds of the cup competition were held in four regional groups. From the last sixteen onwards, the association played. The defending champion FV Ravensburg , who had been in the final in the previous two years, reached the semi-finals again.
