Wade Megan (born July 22, 1990 in Canton , New York ) is a former American ice hockey player . The center played 15 games for the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League , but was mostly used in minor leagues .

Career

Megan first attended the South Kent School until 2009 and was selected from there in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the fifth round in 138th place by the Florida Panthers from the National Hockey League . The striker moved from high school to Boston University . There he played parallel to his studies in the following four years for the ice hockey team of the university in Hockey East , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In total, he played 151 games for Boston during this period.

After completing his studies, the center forward was signed by the Florida Panthers in March 2013. The Panthers used Megan on their farm teams , the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League and the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL , until the summer of 2015 . When his contract expired at the end of the 2014/15 season , the American initially no longer received an NHL contract and joined the Portland Pirates from the AHL. His 23 points scorer over the course of the 2015/16 season earned him a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues from the NHL for the following season . First he spent the 2016/17 season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves farm team , where he and Kenny Agostino formed the best attacking duo of the season. He made his NHL debut for the Blues due to his performances during the season and secured the Willie Marshall Award in the AHL at the end of the season with 33 goals . He was also elected to the League's First All-Star Team .

After the 2017/18 season, Megan received no new contract in St. Louis, so he joined the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent in July 2018 . His one-year contract there he fulfilled, where he came with eleven inserts for the Red Wings to most NHL games a season. The attacker then ended his active career to lead a youth ice hockey program in his native Canton.
