During this time, his transfer rights in the North American professional sector had been given up in March 2013 from Pittsburgh to the Calgary Flames , after he moved there together with the first-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and the transfer rights to Ben Hanowski in exchange for Calgary team captain Jarome Iginla .

After completing his studies, the striker was signed by Calgary in March 2014 and made eight appearances for the Flames by the end of the NHL season. It was only after Blues striker Robby Fabbri was out for the rest of the season due to an injury to his cruciate ligament in early February 2017 that Agostino was appointed to the St. Louis' NHL squad for the first time. At that time he led the scorer list of the AHL with 60 points in 48 games with a lead of 15 points over Jordan Weal . He defended this lead for the rest of the season and was therefore appointed to the AHL First All-Star Team at the end of the season , received the Les Cunningham Award as most valuable player and the John B.
