Walpersdorf is an east-southeast district of Netphen in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It has an area of 9.2 km² and 415 inhabitants (December 31, 2014).

Walpersdorf is located in the Siegerland in the southern part of the Rothaar Mountains , around 7 km east- south -east of the city center of Netphen. It is the first village on the upper course of the Sieg near the source , into which the Michelbach and Sindernbach (fed by the Butzbach ) flow in the village and the Ahornbach , Kütschenlangenbach and Langenbach in the vicinity . In each case about 3 km away, in addition to the Siegquelle , the Lahnquelle and Eder arise ; The Rothaarsteig leads past these springs . The village is between 380 and 440 m above sea level. NHN . history
Walpersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1344. On April 10, 1960 near Walpersdorf, the discovery of Neolithic tools was recorded. On July 8, 1823 a school and chapel building was inaugurated.
Until the end of 1968, the place belonged to the office of Netphen and became part of the new large community of Netphen during the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1969, and since 2000 a district.
In 2002 the St. Sebastian church in Walpersdorf burned down.

Attractions
The last charcoal piles in the Siegerland are near Walpersdorf . In them the regionally known "Walpersdorfer charcoal" is produced in an old tradition. Oak, birch and beech wood are charred. About 1 t of charcoal is made from 4 t of wood.
Also worth seeing is the " Märzbecherwiese " nature reserve .

Walpersdorf is on Landesstrasse 719 ( Nenkersdorf - Volkholz ). With the motorway 45 is via terminals Wilnsdorf or wins over the Hüttentalstraße connected (HTS). The bus service is operated by Verkehrsbetriebe Westfalen-Süd (VWS).
